Seeking a Hopeful Example for Israel's Future Existence

Reader comment on item: Israel's Predicament at 60: World's worst neighbourhood

Submitted by Ellen Ben-Eliahu (France), May 8, 2008 at 05:12

As usual, Dr. Pipe's carefully reasoned and solidly based evidence resonates with anyone who is not afraid to view Israel's situation honestly. I've, reluctantly, expressed the same line of reasoning in my own fictionalized autobiographical account of 30 years living and working in that tiny strip of land on the edge of the sea.

But, could there possibly be other examples of tiny independent nations surviving existential threat in bad neighborhoods? Finland comes to mind. Of course, there's the wild card of fanatic religious motivation that decrees destruction. But, I'd be interested in Daniel Pipe's thoughts on the subject.
