Surprisingly, I never heard of Devasahayam Pillai

But "Devasahayam" is a very common name among South Indian (mostly Andhra, but some Tamils in Thiruvallur and Vellore Districts as well) Christians. I happen to be a Tamil from Chennai city.

Other common Christian names include:

  • Dasan (which can be Anglicised to "Dawson"--as was the case with one of India's Navy Chiefs, a Nagercoilite Anglican)
  • Amalraj, most common amongst Tamil Catholics (but I have seen some in LEF, a Protestant organisation)
  • Amritraj, also most common amongst Tamil Catholics (the famous Amritraj brothers of tennis are)
