To add some historical ironies

The first Indian troops (as opposed to Mukti Bahini) troops to enter Bangladesh did so on 1971/11/20, under the command of Maj. Gen. J(ack) F(rederick) R(obert) Jacob, an Indian Jew*** (who retired with Lt. Gen. Rank as GOC Indian Army Eastern Command in 1975); additional to this, the third nation (after India and UK) to recognise independent Bangladesh was....Israel!

However, such recognition has not been reciprocated (by Bangladesh's diplomatic recognition of Israel) to date.

***Jacob's religiosity as a Jew is questionable as he is a member of B.J.P., which has generally pushed Hindu fanatic ideology; the expansion of his name comes from a Times Of India editorial (written by Jacob) of April 1998.
