Reader comment on item: Israel's Predicament at 60: World's worst neighbourhood
in response to reader comment: Why have Jews been targeted?

Submitted by Claire (United States), May 9, 2008 at 20:45

The Jews are notorious for fashioning themselves a propitious niche wherever they land, be it as slaves or the single peace-loving state in the middle of barbarianism.

Because they quickly take stock of their surroundings and determine how they can flourish, those who are not as clever find themselves jealous and feeling left out of the fun. Of course, Islamic doctrine doesn't breed particularly resourceful people in the sense we think of the Jews. The Jews never taught their people to have a "subject" mentality, even when they have been slaves. On the other hand, all Muslim women, and most Islamic men become indoctrinated as subjects who must blindly follow the writings of a specific warlord, who also happened to be a cracker-jack social engineer--Mohammed.

I think it's a combination of jealously and ignorance about the fact that their own doctrine limits them that drives their resentment and even hatred of Jews.
