Why so much opposition to a single Jewish state ?

Reader comment on item: Israel's Predicament at 60: World's worst neighbourhood

I always wondered why so many parts of the world are opposed to a single jewish state.

There are about 55-60 countries which proudly claim that they are Islamic.

Similarly (or more) there are Christian countries. Even if they are secular they are proud to be based on Christian learning, religious background......what not. For all practical purposes there are about 80-100 Christian countries.

But most parts of world are against a "SINGLE" Jewish country.

Can Jews go and live in Mecca, Medina or many other places they used to live for times immemorial ? Would Saudi Arabia let them in... If they do not let them in, what else they are complaining about ..

Also Israel is secular even though it is founded for Jews.

I just cannot understand this....
