Historical Examples of Apostasy and Treason

Reader comment on item: Counting Islamists
in response to reader comment: Apostasy does not equal treason

Hi,

I am sorry that I did not include for you where the apostasy originated in Islam. Immediately after the Prophet Muhammad died, most of the tribes who had converted to Islam in Arabia rebelled against Muhammad's succesor Abu Bakr. These tribes broke away from the Islamic State which Muhammad created. The rebellion was similar to the U.S. civil war where the southern states broke away from the union. A civil war in Arabia began called War against the Apostates. These apostates committed treason. Just like the south in the U.S. Do you follow me now??? It was not just about religion it was also about state and political unity. Another example would be the thirty years war. The conflict began between Protestants and Catholics in the Holy Roman Empire, but gradually developed into a general, political war involving most of Europe.

Man, you said a lot of negative things about Muslims and a little about Islam. Please try to separate the two. When you look in non-Muslims countries you see more crimes and bad things happening than in Muslim countries. I don't see you blaming it on the religion of those countries. I don't here you saying, man, Christianity or other religions suck!!!

Well, I guess you won't be inviting me over for dinner huh??? Smile.
