Something is wrong with the low estimates

Reader comment on item: Counting Islamists
in response to reader comment: Something is surely wrong here!

Ramana Rajgopaul, you write: "I write from India. The population of Muslims in India is around 150 million. Are you suggesting that 15%. that is 22.5 million Indian Muslims are likely to be Islamists?

I find it totally unbelievable. The same disbelief would apply to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia etc."

I gather you think this number is very high. I say not - by definition of Islamist - any Muslim who is prepared to spread islam by any means is an Islamist and you would not find any Muslim in the world, including those in India, Pakistann, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc who do not fit the bill. This explains the seemingly inexhaustible supply of Islamists in the world.

If anything Dr. Pipes' numbers are much lower than the real numbers
