The actual percentage does not matter

Reader comment on item: Counting Islamists

Submitted by Yuval Brandstetter MD (Israel), Oct 8, 2008 at 09:07

What matters is the success of Islamists at imposing their policies upon their surroundings. Very few rational non-islamist Muslim will fight their Islamist co-religionists when it appears they are winning.. The 911 gave a tremendous boost to the Islamists because it was successful at inflicting a tremendous damage on the US. Same in Israel where the Disengagement gave the islamist a powerful boost (understated by Major General Moshe "Bogey" Yaalon as "positive dorsal wind") in the PA, in the Isreaeli Knesset and local councils.

Conversely, the imposition of decisive losses, routs, and revenge upon Islamists and their supporters may turn the mind of the undecided Muslims. So dont count'em. Beat them. where it hurts, which is in the ground they occupy. In Europe it will be cessation of immigration and repatriation, same in Israel. In the US? Well there is Obama, the Muslim candidate, so we shall see.
