Dear Lynn.

Webster Dictionary describes law as:
1 a (1): a binding custom or practice of a community : a rule of conduct or action prescribed or formally recognized as binding or enforced by a controlling authority (2): the whole body of such customs, practices, or rules.

Do you believe that God requires such a mechanism? This stuff of law is all man made for man's empowerment. It's man's way of describing or leveraging conduct. But God doesn't behave according to man's understanding and that leaves man at a loss to honestly describe such a supreme influence. God's hand is not only on the shoulder of man but in every microscopic detail of both earth and the entire expanse of that sublime mystery, outer space, the universe[one song].

Man requires laws to understand his world, physics, mathematical, chemistry, all worldly behavior. We are impressed with our science. Including the authority of religion[which is of this world]. The question people have to ask themselves sooner or later is, "Do I believe in God or do I more believe in my religion?" They are not both the same. What people do in the name of their religion is not what God wants it's what man wants using God as a implement to ensure the observance of those laws and rules.

Punishment is an earthly construct. Punishment derives from our sense of authority and the reality that we are ultimately powerless so we respond by enforcing our sense of control over events. You will obey me or suffer the consequence. God has no consequence for you. Your hot wired for either or. You have freedom of choice. Be the best human being you can be and contribute with out leveling a fee on the rest of humanity or go around making other people pay for your existence. Your behavior has consequence only in relation to life and living with others. God is not personally tried by idiocy, ignorance or criminal behavior. When you die God will not punish you for choosing a miserable existence nor reward you for living as a decent human being. Both reward and punishment have been provided for in your personal choice of direction.

Fear of punishment is a controllers weapon waved for compliance. I feel for your spiritual connection with God if it is based on "Comply or suffer my wrath." You may not be connected to God at all. Just kept in harness by your religious dogma. "I believe the book" It's written in the book." Have you read the book." This is our book." That's their book." God wrote our book." Our book is the word of God". Their book is funny and full of stupid stuff." Like a bunch of chickens locked in the hen house. [book book, book, BOOOOK]

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.
