Where on earth did that idea come from?

in response to reader comment: Islam is Democratic

What? Where did the idea that Muslim women are attacked come from? Why, I only see religious Muslim men attacking Muslim women in Europe and gang-raping them for not wearing the veil!

Let's explore what you said.

First of all, that was a very, very nice, round, sharia-style spin you put on your information. It reminded me of when Mahmoud came to speak here in America.

Oh yes, your strategy is as clear as the glass on the rocks of beach by Abu Dhabi. You are trying to play the innocent little victim and dumb at the same time. Congradulations.

There's just one problem:

True democracy and sharia law are incompatible. You alter and sort-changed definitions of words in your post to catch Western readers off-guard and demoralize them. You want us to say "Yes, Khawla, you are right."

But you are not. Freedom means freedom for everyone, not just Emirati men. It means being allowed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ from the rooftops of dwellings from Bukah to Umm Said. It means allowing Christmas carolers to sing in public in Dubai. It means allowing women to dress as they will in your hot climate. It means allowing all faiths the ability to worship as they please.

It even means allowing the consumption of alcohol. But I do agree with you on your stance on that issue, and that is why I do not drink.

You try to sound like a noble Muslim, but you come across as a Western liberal. Your ideas are one and the same: that freedom only applies to those who agree with you.

Democracy, you say? China, Iran, North Korea all carry the name republic. Does that mean they are?

Hardly.

Khawla, freedom is a Judeo-Christian idea. Islam is welcomed by it, but so are other faiths.

May God guide you to the true path.
