Our dear Khawla wrote

>Taqiya is new to me, both as a meaning and reason for use, because we do not use it in the Muslim countries.

For a change, a Muslim is really doing her home work. In actual fact the only Muslims in the history of Islam that used such doctrine were the Shi`a and the various sects of shi`a Islam in-order to avoid persecution by Sunni Muslims.

>No shame in not knowing this.

This is true only if you do your home work before dishing out answers that do not make sense.

>What I know about taqwa and taqiya are that they are related in meaning: piety. tattaqi is their present tense verb which can mean "to fear, to avoid, or to protect".

Not really. The word piety means: taqwa (also tadayuun) that is it and for this see Wortabet page: 284B

>I searched for taqiya and found that it means: "to save life, honour. or property (either one's own or of other beĀlievers) by hiding one's belief or religion".

Right. This is what taqiya means and no it has nothing to do with the word taqwa

>Therefore, it is not bad.

That is not the issue here as we were talking about lying and Islam and you told us that lying is forbidden in islam? Remember our dear Khawla?.

>If I moved to a non-Muslim country and I wanted to lie about my belief to protect myself and knew that lying is forbidden except in the 3 cases,

So now you changed your mind. Remember that you told us that there is no lying in islam?

> I would ask an Islamic scholar for what to do. S/he would tell me about taqiya for sure.

But this would be lying our dear Khawla! What do you think?
