Reader comment on item: A Democratic Islam?
in response to reader comment: You're killing me

mr. ahmed stated "If we are to have any kind of sane relationship with the Middle East this great debate regarding Islam and politics needs to end. The discussion needs to be about what those using Islam as cover are truly seeking in the end."

indeed, mr. ahmed makes the point that moderate islam may not exist...in his statement he is saying no discourse on islam...

islam taken in the right context is not about violence or an islamic caliphate...yet, there is plenty in the quran to twist in that aspect...including but not limited to the verses stating that an israelite can not rule over king soloman's temple or now the mosque that occupies that land...

as the american consitution states to the separation of church and state i so believe...for it is the only way to move forward in these religious wars that has been going on for...well, since the begining of mankind... and our consitution gives rights as human beings to think for ourselves and have religion as long as it doesn't trample on others rights as human beings

so, an islamic state is just what it says... and only tolerates other religions when it suits them...
