That's pretty funny

Reader comment on item: A Democratic Islam?
in response to reader comment: Democracy has no definite meaning

I actually found myself smiling as I read your reply to me.

What do you have to gain by lying? Ha ha. A lot, actually. That's why Islam teaches taqiyya. It just doesn't work very well on me.

So, Emirati women work indoors, huh? Well, I guess that's what the men like to think, but there are exceptions to every rule. It would be nice if you gave them more freedom. I'm sure many of them would love to meet American men and get married and come to the USA. I know of a few who might be willing to make the jump. I think the UAE shouldn't concern themselves so much over their personal choices. That's what freedom is.

It sounds like to me that you will not accept any freedom contrary to sharia law. Well, that rules out an awful lot of freedom then, and no matter how you spin in with your words and no matter how hard you to try control others, it cannot be done. In fact, the Arabian pensinula could very well undergo a cultural metamorphsis very soon. I can see it among the young people, and that is too their credit.

It would be nice if you would encourage them to follow their hearts, even at the expense of sharia. You say democracy is man-made, but freedom is not. Freedom is a gift from God. sharia is what is man-made.
