Written in 1924, even more true today

This was written in 1923, in french, then translated into English in 1924 :

I am willing to believe in progress in a certain sense and up to a certain point; and I have
no hesitation in agreeing that the Turks are the most congenial of Orientals, until the day
when we, by our want of foresight and our stupidity, provide them with the means of
becoming once more the enemy with whom we shall have to reckon.

It is the end of the preface by Louis Bertrand for the book "Islam and the psychology of musulman" by André Servier.
It was true in 1923, it is still true today. Why ? Because turks where and still are muslims.
And it will remain true tomorrow as long as turks will remain muslims.
