Turkey,Frankly UnexpectedReader comment on item: Turkey: An Ally No More Submitted by Jay1 (United States), Nov 3, 2009 at 00:42 Dr. Pipes is quite right to suggest that Turkey seems to be an ally no more.Consider the fact that this member of Nato did not allow America and the coalition against Saddam to use Turkish routes during the critical heat of the Iraq war.Consider that Turkeys government is warming up to a nuclear bent Iran and mischievous Syria that through its Iraq intervention, probably caused the lives of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians.Warming up to Iran when they call for the destruction of Israel. And to Syria when their accused of Hararis asassination and support of Hezbollah. Why Turkey has turned is unclear.A misguided neighborhood Muslim bond against Nato, friends and right is perhaps one simple theory.Or perhaps the reason lies in a major Barak Obama blunder. It may be that under Obamas hasty hostility to Israel, and a univeralistic desire to drink tea and eat cookies with the likes of Iran and Syria,Turkey took Obamas lead in a way that was frankly,unexpected..
