to Ianus: some clarification on my positionReader comment on item: Turkey: An Ally No More Submitted by myth (Germany), Nov 5, 2009 at 08:03 Hello Ianus, interesting points of view from your side that I have not heard before. Some clarification on my position: I am not a multicultural type of man. My position is, call it "maxi-cultural": Based on the mainstream culture of the host country adopt some cultural qualities from the immagrants that the majority considers of value. This way, not the other way around, don't let immigrant cultures impose their ways on the host-country. I would always demand and, more important, offer assimilation. Maybe you know yourself, but one can in public be of one culture and in private of another. Another clarification: when I speak of turkish elements in german mainstream culture I mean that german-germans routinely enjoy some of the turkish-german's culture as part of their every-day-lives.
