Why Turkey is turning away from the West

Reader comment on item: Turkey: An Ally No More

The Turks are a pragmatic people. They see how the West, especially the USA under president Obama, are showing weakness in all aspects, Economically, Militarily, and Ethically. Europe with it growing Islamic population will be influenced by it and may turn towards the emerging strong Islamic nations. This are only a few reason why Turkey besides religious reasons chose to disengage itself from the West and Israel and join Iran and its allies.

They also see that the so called pro Western Arab nations will not last under its present leadership and will join the Iranians. The loss of Turkey is to the West a big blow. There is a possibility that when pushed to the corner the West will fight back and we may see yet the War of Civilizations. I hope not. But small Israel with its Holocaust past, will not allow itself to be sent again to the Ovens of Arabic Auschwitz and may set the region on fire.It has the capacity to do so.
