Turkey an ally noi more

Reader comment on item: Turkey: An Ally No More

Submitted by Fazal Habib Curmally (Pakistan), Oct 27, 2009 at 23:16

It is a strange situation. All Turkiye did was to ask Israel not to participate in the exercise called Anatolian Eagle. The USA and Italy opted out of the exercise because of this. Has Turkiye done anything beyond that to really signal a shift in their foreign policy? If Turkiye plans to shift the pole of its foreign policy, it is it's sovereign right and can you deny them that? They may have their reasons and has Israel done anything to change Turkiye's mind? After all, Turkiye gave their reasons for asking Israel not to participate. The UN General Assembly has criticsed Israel for the Gaza Episode earlier this year. Can you deny that and does it mean the world is ganging up on Israel?

It is time to review what you are about and where you are heading and if someone is doing that, does it make them your enemy?
