turkeyReader comment on item: Turkey: An Ally No More Submitted by havas (Turkey), Nov 1, 2009 at 16:26 to accept turkey to eu is eu's business. İt is very common to read europeans horrified by the idea of turks joining the eu and polluting their society with islamic culture. and ı can understand this. in turkey most people would like to be in the eu only for ECONOMİC reasons and nothing else. But also no Turk believes that eu can ever accept us there. Obviously because we are muslims and we will not change our religon to be there. so we dont even dream about eu. but what is interesting is,that ı cant understand, if we are out of eu, than how can it be even an issue to discuss what kind of political attitude we follow. we are a free country, we can have a dialog and trade with our neighbours, russia, ıraq, iran and syria, we can criticize israel, that doesnt mean that we are now the enemy of israel or west. people screaming with fear of muslim turks invading their continent, must be happy now, that turkey ,islamic or turanic, whatever you call ,openly decided to follow a different political path.
