Reader comment on item: Destroying Sculptures of Muhammad
in response to reader comment: Iman Taj

If I may just clear up one small detail - the word you use as my title should be "Imam", as opposed to "Iman"...not trying to be picky...in arabic, iman is the word for faith "faith". To be totally honest, I too wonder why dogs are unclean - and I surmise that it is the same reason pigs are - which too begs the question, lol... To clarify: angels do not enter in a house where there is a dog or pictures of creatures with souls. This amounts to a refusal to enter. The significance of such is due to the reason angels actually do enter houses: to give salutations and prayers for the inhabitants.

Yes, dogs are created by Allah. So are tetse flies, viruses, and alligators- but I wouldn't make them welcome guests in my house. Since having a dog in the house or having pictures (generally considered to be anything painted, drawn, etc) is a violation of a religious prohibition, such an action draws to it a consequence, ie, one would be deprived of the wonderful company of angels in this instance.

Regards!
