I think most people see the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights as the closest thing we have to sacrosanct in my country, and any talk of any laws that do not reflect these documents is going to be suspect. We are very committed to not having a state religion or any religion-based law.

We see a lot of religious people toying with our government, including our current president, whose beliefs and actions scare the bejeezus out of us more than anything immigrants can bring with them.
