Reader comment on item: Destroying Sculptures of Muhammad

Hard versus soft Islamism is a very apt topic in light of the current, on again/off again talks, between Israel and the PLO. Recent quotes from Abu Mazen (I use his nom de guerre on purpose) indicate that he is pursuing such a course. During a recent interview with the Jordanian paper, al-Dustur, he is quoted as saying, "At this juncture I am opposed to armed struggle because we cannot succeed in it, but maybe in the future things will be different." The Palestinians will always believe that in time they will succeed. And perhaps they will unless the current crop of Israelis learn from their ancestors and "smite" their foes.
