Understatement from Dr. Pipes - Danger is Clear and Present

Reader comment on item: Destroying Sculptures of Muhammad

Soft islam indeed has much more potential for harm compared to violent islam.

In india, the muslims have a civil law that is shariah inspired while rejecting shariah for criminal law.

islamists have gone for Shariah in the Civil law making it possible to marry four spouses. For Civil Law the i-slamists prefer the Indian Criminal law where they can get away with lighter sentences for muslim crimes.

islamist population growth rates have been much higher and muslim demography is causing tensions as increased moslem population is accompanied be demands for special privileges for musalmaans. Democracy indeed can be abused.

muslims have historically never cared about the sentiments of non-muslims while asking non-muslims to respect muslim symbols, many of which are perceived by non muslims as symbols of persecution and hate.
