West is submitting to shari'a

Reader comment on item: Destroying Sculptures of Muhammad

Submitted by Claire (United States), Apr 2, 2008 at 20:58

"...Pressure by Muslims on the West to conform to Islamic customs predates the current Islamist era. ...Soft Islamism presents dangers as great as does violent Islamism."

Islamics want the freedom to call for the deaths of Westerners unless we abridge our own freedom of speech and allow them to dictate what we can say and do. They demand that we assume their customs and never speak critically of their doctrine or practices, while they speak in even moderate mosques about how to treat the "dhimmi." In effect, we are slowly being intimidated into implementing shari'a ourselves.

What's frightening is so many in the West think that we need to embrace Islam as just another way people pray, and turn a blind eye to the fact that Islam is a form of government. Embracing Islam is like embracing Chinese communism--not like embracing a religion as we understand that term in the West. Even Bin Laden compared Islam to capitalism--not to a traditionally Western religion--in a September 2007 video.

When I have posted any form of the above sentence paragraph, two major U.S. online forum providers have edited it so that the part about Islam being a form of government is deleted. That is shari'a--already controlling the U.S. media.
