Iftikhar: Why did your prophet personally destroy the idols in the Kaaba

Hello, Iftikhar,

One sentence caught my eye from your post: >> ‘We all have our beliefs, nobody is trying to force anything upon anyone else.'<<

Buddhists, Hindus, and present day Christians do not force their religion on anyone. Unfortunately the belief of Muslims itself requires them to force their religion on unbelievers: 003.085 YUSUFALI: If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good).

And this is reinforced by:

009.111 Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.

And the prophet set a very bad example when on conquering Mecca he went about destroying and desecrating the religion and symbols of his forefathers. If Muslims are to follow the Koran and the Sunnah they have no option but to force their religion on unbelievers.

Regards

Plato
