Yes Egyptian men don't have the best reputation, even amongst fellow Arabs (or Arab speaking populations). They tend to be very chauvinistic, very entitled... it's their way or the highway. Most stories of physical violence seem to involve Egyptian men, and I would imagine it's because of the way that society is set up over there. The bride price tends to be quite high, often impossible to fulfil, and so men sometimes go to extreme lengths in order to obtain the funds. This leads to a society of highly stressed, conflicted, and sexually frustrated men.

Of course there are men that are well educated on how to treat women, would never lay a finger on one etc... but unfortunately they seem to be in the minority. And in my own experience, most were Copts.
