Western apologists for Islam

Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: Let us judge others

Dear Dr. Pipes, I recently got a chance to hear a presentation by George Willis apologizing for Islam. George Willis' apolology and those of many other modern Western apologists follow two lines of reasoning both of which are wrong.

First, it is said that Islam leaves a lot to be desired but the same is true for the old and the new testaments. For example, examples of violence in the Quran are matched by similar examples in violence. Didn't Ms Davis in the 3rd grade tell us that two wrongs don't make a right?
If Islam is as bad as Christianity or Judaism, does it automatically become good? How so? Even more importantly these apologies do not mention all the good things that the world has seen due to Judio-Christian traditions and which are missing in Islam.

The second line of reasoning followed by these apologists is even worse. I heard Willis claim that Islam was very inclusive to the two other "people-of-the-book" traditions. Willis, quite unapologically said that Islamic calls to violence were limited only toward polytheists and pagans. Excuse me? Since when did the polytheists become lawfully killable?

Islamist's apologies will become acceptable if Muslim's behavior around the planet becomes humble and self-reflective. With Islam's self-righteous behavior, these apologies are worthless.
