Wow just read this now, so you finally married, well congratulations and I hope your marriage is successful

Yes some parts of Morocco are very deprived but there are also lots of affluent areas, or areas that are at least more comfortable to stay in. I think you definitely need to see more of the country next time. Did you visit La Mamounia in Marrakech? The Atlas Mountains are also very peaceful and fairly clean. Essaouira is also very artsy. I personally prefer the south but parts of Rabat and Casablanca are quite modern with lots of middle class professionals.

It's changed a lot from when I first went and it's definitely more expensive to stay and eat out. I think since the tourism boom and with the flocks of Gulf Arab men pouring in, prices have just skyrocketed. The only thing that would prevent me from staying there is the annoying harassment from men. But with that said I didn't find it as bad as in Egypt, and it also depends on where you're staying
