Re Quote " Men are the full maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them excel the other, and because men spend out of their wealth on them"
1. In simple words, this means that women are subordinate to men ie female sex renders a woman inferior to a male. To-day we have equality.
2. Men are not maintainers of women. That was in the Arabian desert 1400 years ago. To-day in civilized countries women can maintain themselves as scientists, lawyers, medical doctors, engineers etc.
3. Clearly Allah did not make men to excel over women. Go to a university in a democratic country and see for yourself.
