LOL this made me laugh. Agree with most of what you said - however there are many, many Muslim women in unhappy/abusive marriages with men that are neglectful, cheating, hypocrites etc etc. While it's less likely for a MENA man to approach a MENA woman for financial gain it does happen, and in Egypt (mainly Upper Egypt) women are often treated as second class citizens. The little girls are taught from a young age that they are less than boys, this is something that I've seen with my own eyes... boys being treated like little kings, while their potentially more intelligent sister is told that she's fit for being a housewife.

But yeah it's not the norm and you're right in that western women have less support from their families - to dishonour a woman in ME cultures is to dishonour the whole family.
