in response to reader comment: Pakistani man

Omg please tell me you've not gone and seen this man and are not going to. If you are having doubts, listen to them. Those are your instincts and they are there to protect you. Him saying that she's his cousin should be no consolation btw either-this is Pakistan you talking about; a country where the vast majority of the population exclusively marries their first and second cousins, at the expense of the poor children born to them with astronomically high levels of birth defects from chromosomal abnormalities. You being a western woman I can tell you that is a world you DO NOT want to marry into; you could never prepare yourself for the differences and expectations you'd be expected to conform to. It is difficult for Pakistani immigrants to marry into a Pakistani family (nevermind that is also often their very own family already, btw); I'm a Syrian, and I'd never even consider dating or marriage to a Pakistani becuse it would be so utterly foreign and undesirable to ME, now imagine how much greater the divide culturally and religiously would be for yourself. Even in the best case scenario he's a good guy, this would still be a bad idea. Given that he sounds like a terrible guy it's just undeniable evidence that this is a bad idea.
