Long distance abuse

Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: Good points, Lina

"It is possible to be emotionally abused from another country."

LOL this made me laugh - as you said it's not really funny but so absurd and so true.

It comes in the form of silent treatment, gaslighting and lies. Yes, it's only via telephone, but us women need emotional reassurance. At least in person you can throw a cushion or two lol. Long distance, you literally have this MENA man winding you up from behind a screen, controlling all communication.

The thing is, these men are fully aware of our feelings towards them (which is why it's best not to tell them - their own women are cold), and they will use it to hurt you.

"and when I tried to discuss them later all hell broke loose."

It's to throw you off track and stop you from questioning their authority.

It really does get to the point where you're driven to borderline insanity, because these men will build you up and put you on a pedestal. And when they don't get what they want they slowly break you down. Quite frankly, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
