Reasonable answer from Luhx

Dear Dr Pipes, your respondent Luhx deserves appreciation for giving a very balanced reply to my questions. But she also said, "We discussed the religion of our children a long time ago and agreed they will be raised in Islam.". I ask why?

This question is not about her marriage in particular. That will be her business and I as a good non-Muslim appreciate everyone's right to conduct their own business. What I wonder is why in an interfaith marriage between a Muslim and a non-Muslim, the non-Muslim person has to always convert to Islam. And if not that then why the children of the marriage are always Muslim.

I insist that our world must judge Islam not by Islamic standards. We should judge Islam by common, neutral, and ethical standards. That is what I am doing here.
