Follow your gut

Your gut feeling is almost always right. Don't ignore it. most muslim men who were brought up in muslim countries are taught it is the man's responsibility to provide for the woman and children, and he is not a good husband if he can't BUT if your having a bad feeling there is probably cause for it. Muslim men are also knows to have mistresses.

I would just find someone to watch the kids and go there without telling him and investigate the situation. If you know where he works and lives just do a little of your own surveillance and see if there is anything to worry about. I would watch for a couple of weeks to be sure. Don't tell him your coming or you were ever there.

If you see nothing, then put your foot down and insist that you live together or else. American women can't begin to understand the thinking of a Muslim man born and raised in a muslim country. The worst thing to do is be submissive about things. If you don't do it now, it will only get worse and you will end up miserable. If these men want to be with American women they need to learn the culture too,

It needs to be a mutual merging of cultures and trying to understand each others ways and beliefs. The most important thing to know is the reason behind things. Once that is determined it is easier to resolve things.
