I feel since he has been through a marriage for the green card,he has either ditched that woman or it was a mutually agreed relationship.The question is whether he can be trusted now.Paying for you on the dates is old world etiquette which he has mastered.

He seems very patient the way he waits for months, after you have gone back to your ex,and then texts you.How does he know that you are going through some rough patch?Is there any communication going on between your ex or somebody around you AND this man?

He is waiting till his sisters get settled and so he is ready to wait.However,are you ready to trust him considering his green card marriage(could have been quite a selfish endeavour) and his unusual pateince with you.It is as if he KNOWS that you will get back to him.I feel you should find a petson from your own culture since if this man is a Muslim,either you will have to convert and/or your children will be raised Muslim.All these factors need to be decided upon by you.He may claim that he is westernized and does not practise his faith.Everything can be promised and reversed when it could be too late.Don't get back to him despite the texts and your lean periods for a year and see.Meanwhile,it could be a better idea to get a man known to your relatives or close friends who can vouch for a person and his credentials.
