that his mask fell so early in the course of the "relationship". Most will string you along and keep trying to scam you of whatever they can get their hands on.

I lost a total of 40K Euros to a rat from Marrakesh, including setting up a guesthouse for "our future" which I foolishly registered in his name. I had not opened a bank account then and was pendalling between Europe and Marrakesh every 4-6 weeks and had planned to move there this January.

Except for 500 Dhs, i saw nothing from the earnings. He said he had spent it all carelessly on renovation works, lending friends but never getting the money back *crocodile tears, too* etc. and how he is SO mad at himself. As business flourished, the contact got less frequent because he was "working" which includes sleeping with our guests when I was not there. Finally he changed the password to the business account which I had been taking care of. I did EVERYTHING because he is not well educated at all, having left school at 13! All he needed to do when i wasn't there, was to present for the guests and prepare breakfast. But because he never gets out of bed before 1pm, he hired a help while he lazed away his days.

My wedding ring went missing after i had left it on the bedside table in our bedroom. He said it was my responsibility to look after it (I had left it there after a fight where he had told guests "it's better to lead a single life"). Instead of changing 70000 Dhs to Euros "at a much better rate", he bought himself a car!!

The only reason they want us to visit is to rip us - free food & stuffs, money to help their families who are always sick or have accidents.

The cheating was of course because I did not give him the security he needed aka marriage. LOL!! Like he could get that sort of security from guests on short stay. Oh yes, of course they "do not normally" bring women home to meet their family - aren't we the lucky ones?!!

Alhamdulilah you did not get scammed worse. He hasn't found "a" new target. These bastards are stringing along many women at the same time.I had proof of 4 he was stringing along while he was "married" to me. It's like they keep a calendar who's visiting next!

This rat was living on the streets before he met the ex before me who had put him up in a dirty dinghy place - but at least he had roof over his head. To think how he had upgraded his lifestyle by betraying my kindness and generosity!!

More awareness should be raised so others will not fall for these loverats.

If only I had found this forum earlier, I would not have lost so much money and suffered so much - not so much the loss of "love" but the betrayal of my trust! And the money, of course!

Amazing how normal, intelligent, successful and not unattractive women still fall for these scams.

Karma will catch up with them soon and serve them what they deserve!!

And Soraya, be prepared. He will be contacting you soon to keep up the contact so they can try to scam you again with their sob stories. Don't fall for that!!! Mine was still trying to con me of a mobile home and money to set up a 2nd guesthouse. I gave him nothing but the 2nd guesthouse has been running since June, so i assume he had found another willing target.

Never, ever fall for any more of their sweet words, sob stories when they try to reconnect. Cut off all the ties from this person. AND DO NOT EVEN GO BACK IN AUGUST!!

Good luck and find someone from your own "clan". AVOID THESE MENA RATS AT ALL COSTS!! Just not worth taking the risk.
