Trust your instincts. If you feel something is off, then it's most probably so - even if you can't put your finger to what that is.

If you would listen to yourself talk (read what you wrote...) you have all the answers yourself.
If he was "the one" you would be telling your family about him. You even recognise that he is manipulating you emotionally, using your age as a weakness etc.

I don't believe someone like him would let his brother control him. He's probably busy with his side chicks.

How do we become so easily attached to these men? Factors can range from our childhood experiences and our need to have someone fill a void in our lives to (when we should be filling that void with love for ourselves) to our faith in humanity. That's why the shock is overwhelming when we find out how horribly evil these people can be. However, the main factor is because SCAMMING is their "livelihood". They are wired to listen to what women want to hear. But in time, we will realise that it's all just talk. And it's the same talk they are having with other women while they are professing their "love" for us. And then the mask comes off and the trouble begins...

Read what you wrote: "he" is making plans to get engaged... - shouldn't that be "WE" are making plans, if it felt right for you? "I realise now that these men are very wise when selecting women that they can scam"... Your subconscious is aware of what this person is after, so you're going to be okay.

I would break contact with any one who blackmails me emotionally. Because it won't be just one time. Do you have the patience to deal with his suicide threats each time he does not get things his way?? Save yourself the energy and save your love for someone who deserves it.

Get out of this rut before you fall any deeper.
