Fellow South African

Hi Zaina

I am also South African (Western Cape) and involved with an Egyptian man who trades here. I am 23 years old and need answers. Something is off about this man but I can't put my finger on it.

I am terribly sorry for what you had gone through. Looks like these men are starting to target South African women as well these days. My family does not know about my relationship with him. He threatens to kill himself in front of me if I ever decide to leave him and manipulates me emotionally (eg. uses my age as my weakness). He is also being controlled by his brother which means that I could only see him a few times since we met last year. My question: How do we become so easily attached to these men? I would forget about any other person in seconds but this one seems to be harder to forget about.

I am about to start my career as a teacher next year, he is making plans to get engaged to me next year but your post makes me think twice when it comes to getting married to this man. I will receive a decent salary each month and I think he is well aware of that. I realise now that these men are very wise when selecting women that they can scam...
