I guess I am doing okay for now...

Hi everyone

I want to thank each and everyone of you ladies who gave me advice/ their opinions on this matter. I think someone asked how educated I am... I am currently a 4th year educatoin student at on of South Africa's leading universities. I major in maths and science. Please excuse me for all the grammatical errors that you may encounter in my posts as Dutch is my mother tongue.

To come back to this MENA man: After I finally decided to selectively tell some of my family and friends about this (this was after I already made up my mind that I will not continue with this man) even my Muslim family, friends and their family told me not to waste my life with this man. They told me more horrible stories that is similar than the stories on this page. Only difference is that these women who got burned by these MENA men were South African as well and some of them were even family!

This is the third week that I am not allowing him to come to me. I am slowly breaking contact with him (I am really trying). I blocked him from all social media and he has been calling me like crazy. This week I plan on changing my cellphone numbers and in November I will be moving to another city (if I get a job at a local high school). I see this as a fresh start and I plan on taking advantage of it. In the mean time I joined the gym and plan to spend some of my free time there. Maybe if I increase my fitness levels I will have more confidence and better selfesteem...

But I know it will take some time for me to get over all of this. I will come back and read these horrible stories again and again before I allow myself to get involved with a MENA man again. I am so young and naive and almost feel ashamed of myself for my behaviour. I can see clearly now that nothing good would have come from being involved with a MENA man.
