To Sophie and Neptune re:certificate

Hi all,
Neptune, I don't honestly think what You suggest is feasable. A police officer will never ever go to a foreign embassy. A country's embassy is considered this country's territory and not at all in the jurisdiction of the country it is in. A trip to the embassy, especially if it is not near the place Sophie lives in is, at this stage, not necessary in my opinion. She has to first find out where she stands and a solicitor in her own country would be better informed.

I'm 99% sure her "husband" has not registered their marriage in his home country. And I don't think registering it forcibly will change the situation. Yes, he'll eventually have to register a divorce once it is made final in order to marry some other foreigner and that is all. He can easily marry an Algerian national without the first wife consent as the Algerian family code allows a man to marry 4 wives maximum without the consent of the wives who are not Muslim. There are many cases like that in Europe.

Age gap is not immaterial at all. In North Africa older foreign wives are called grandmothers and mocked. This when the wife is 3-5 years older and looks younger than husband. There is no love and this is a scam. I think there is no point trying to make a blissful marital life sound possible, because it's not. The woman wastes precious time trying to make it work and it doesn't.

Sophie, I hope You feel better. My heart goes out to You. The quicker You manage to get rid of Your scammer, the better. I can tell You one thing - he will not change and that's for sure. Keep Is posted and good luck!
