, Afghanistan in the EU OMG! LMAO. Well, Europe and Asia are part of the same tectonic plate so technically the same continent. Afghanistan is culturally not European, never has been and never will be. But Brussels officials are so out of touch with the reality I wouldn't get surprised to see Kabul invited. After all, Ankara was despite Turkey being unstable politically, an agressor and an illegal occupier of Northern Cyprus. The EU is not a USA equivalent. It doesn't even resemble the former USSR whose Republics at least had a common official language. I like the common market with a free movement of goods idea but not the rest. The 28 member States are too different one from the other and many have nothing in common in terms of economic strenghts, economic cycle and so on. And I am not even talking about cultural and linguistic boundaries. I think, sooner or later, the EU will desintegrate like the USSR did. Some countries might rejoin on lighter terms. I like how the Swiss do it - out and about but has special Treaties with the EU.

Many North Africans are not very good in geography. Some can't pinpoint quite big countries on the map. I see You are in Israel. Did You know many arab immigrants here don't know there is no border between the West Bank and Gaza. Or can't find Lebanon. So much about the Arab league.

They ask because they know they might find a treasure from an obscure new member state. They vaguely know Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Iceland exist but don't know which one is in the EU. Some, who seek papers would not loose precious time chatting to a woman from the Ukraine, but would gladly offer a coffee or a similar expensive treat to a woman from Romania in the hope of getting papers.

I was born in Bulgaria. Look on the map between Turkey and Romania! North of Greece. If You ever go to Jaffa (Yaffa, Yafo?? sorry not sure about spelling) there is a Bulgarian restaurant there - have a piece of banitsa - filo pastry filled with white feta like cheese similar to a borek. And try Bulgarian cheese - ask for bulgarit. A female person from Bulgaria is called bulgaria in Hebrew, the cheese is bulgarit.
