Yes, I can see the truth in your words, and this scenario has indeed crossed my mind. It must be awful to be forced to marry someone regardless of whether you are male or female.
I guess I just don't understand why he bothered keeping in touch for the first week while he was away if he knew what was going to happen - it served no purpose. That's the worst thing about these situations, the not knowing and constant trying to work out what has happened in order to get some closure.
