Advice regarding Turkish boyfriend

Dear Dr Pipes, yet another woman asks for advice about a Turkish boyfriend. Why should it be that difficult? If you are not a Muslim but your boyfriend is, here is an oft-repeated checklist that you should go through:

1. Will change his religion for your sake?

2. Will he let you continue to stay in your current religion?

3. Will he let you raise your children in your religion?

4. Will he marry more women after you?

5. Does he love secular democracy in America? Does he also want to have secular democracy in Islamic countries?

6. Does he agree that killing others for their beliefs is justified?

7. What will it take so he is not radicalized?

8. Does he believe in freedom of speech and separation of church and state.

This is a good list. Begin with this and then evaluate your options. There is nothing too bad in asking these questions. If you are comfortable with his answers, all the best to you.
