Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men

Submitted by Ollie, Dec 25, 2016 at 17:17

So I've been reading a lot of comments on here about how aggressive Turkish men are and how to stay away from them

. I've been dating this Turkish guy for almost a year now. We were both born in America and he comes from a wealthy family. We are both in college pursuing higher education. He's always encouraged me to go to school and get my MD. He's always treated me like a queen. Goes to church with me. Volunteers. Works with kids.

Lately he's been getting angry a lot and verbally abusive. He's never hit me though. I recently broke up with him because during an argument he started calling me names and saying hurtful things. I told him if he ever did that I would break up with him and I stuck to my word. He's been begging me to take him back and is doing everything he can to fight for me.

Was I wrong to break up with him? Should I take him back or do you think he'll keep doing it again in the future ?
