Hi "J". I found this site and your article, just in time and I wanted to thank you for that. I have recently visited Morocco, met a very handsome and polite young man, been introduced to his family, treated like a queen, been taken to Essaouira.... well, the whole lot. Now back in my own country, I was searching the web for documentation needed for marriage, visa, etc and your story just seemed like my own. On telling him, which made me sweat and feel terrible just claiming that someone could do that, he didn't even blink an eye. He denied and said he understood I may think he was doing it for those reasons, but he was the "good fish in the bucket". I have for a whole night and day, been going back to the things that happened to find traces of what really happening, and, putting everything together.... I am extremely sad to think that I was being used. Four years ago he actually married a woman from New Zealand, 30 years older than himself, but was denied access into the country and divorced. She still keeps ringing him and posting messages on his fb wall. His sister was married away at the age of 20 to a foreign man 40 years older than her, in exchange for a dowry. So why not try himself again.

I have to warn girls that these men know exactly what words we need to hear, and that it is a matter of survival for them. Us europeans have no idea what it is like to live in Morocco, or Africa. What is "common sense" to us, or "I would never do that", doesn't apply to their situation.

I am a 42 year old woman, I have had many relationships, travelled many countries, speak 5 languages, manage my own business, but was fooled nevertheless. Beware.
