The situation with immigration sounds like something that would happen in a government bureauacracy.

I don't necessarily think that having an agency in another state call you is a big problem at this point because immigration should be dealt with at the federal level.

The one thing to keep in mind is that this may take a little longer than you expect because to be blunt immigration is much more interested in catching child sex traffickers, drug runners and terrorists.

As far as Omar is concerned, it is possible that he is lying to you about his location and since you are using legal channels here you obviously have no reason to trust him. I would just keep working with your lawyer to get unattached from him and relieve yourself as much as possible from any obligations so that you can get on with life.

If immigration told you that they would allow him to go back, it's possible they may not let him back in if they find out he's been scamming people. That would save them the time in court and he'd just be someone else's problem so to speak.

But it wouldn't surprise me if he was still here, so just be aware of either possibility.

Because you can't really trust him, I'd ask your lawyer how to handle contact with him, because I don't think you want him to produce a litany of contact between you and him because he could say you were trying to get back with, never wanted to leave or whatever the situation may be. Either way, make sure you track your communication. Save old voice messages, texts, keep phone bills with his number, copy any on-line chats, ect. in case thsi does go to court.
