Marianna: Old vs Young on this Board; Daughter Needs to Read This Blog

Hi Marianna

Well, I was 24 not that long ago and I remember full well how I made a lot of dumb decisions in life with women.

A lot of stories on here involve women who are much older than their partners, and I think it is easy for young peers who are romantic partners to kind of get swept under the rug but it is important to address, because let's face it: young people can do dumb things, especially when it comes to love.

From what you have said, I think there is some naive perceptions maybe with both your daughter and her partner. I realize you asked your daughter about discussing religion, but I'm not convinced it was a terribly serious one. My concern is that he's expecting different things and she's expecting different things and once they are married, it will be a problem.

I would be careful with the whole "non-practicising" claim as well. A lot of times, religious men will "take a break" from their faith, run around and have sex, get drunk etct. but in the final analysis, they want a life of moral discipline and a religious woman from their own faith and culture.

I just find the marriage ceremony and his interest in it really odd. I mean, I want to tell you as guy myself that he just wants to be married and frankly when it comes a foreign guy, well, your daughter needs to careful than if he were a US citizen and I know you've figured that out to some extent.

I think it's great that you'll always be there for her, but I still invite your daughter to visit this blog and read the stories.
