Response to Guest re Iraqi man

My comments are -

• he is only telling you what you want to hear. including not wanting to leave Iraq.
• That he claims that he is a Sunni Muslim and his family are Shiites is unheard of in the one family. A close relationship within the family would not be possible if this was the case.There are very few Christians in Iraq and they have been persecuted.
• Because Iran and Iraq are predominately Shiite and most other mid east countries are Sunni the Arab world does not consider that Iran and Iran are part of the Arab world.
• He would not have had "girlfriends" in Iraq because Muslim men don't date Muslim women - the coupling is approved by the families and then they just get married - for better or for worse. If he is 34 years old I suspect that he is indeed married and has children. His wife could be posing as one of his sisters for the benefit of the scam..
• You seem to be hinting that you would convert to Islam. PLEASE buy an English version of the Q'ran and read it thoroughly. I have quoted passages from the Q'ran on here previously which relate to women in an Islamic marriage. Search the internet for "Muslim Marriage", "Women in Islam" or similar and then you will get your answers but if you want the truth regarding your relationship you need to make the effort and search for the answers yourself not just present yourself on this site and defend your relationship without being equipped with factual knowledge. Your only knowledge of Islam at the moment is what this man is telling you and what you want to hear..
• You will never be treated as an equal in the marriage as you will be required to look after your husband and obey him plus breed many sons that will be also under his control. Women in Islam are subservient to men especially their husbands.
• Also search "Islam in Iraq" and Saddam Hussein to get an accurate picture of the situation in Iraq.
• I do not believe that he is educated. Iraq is a war torn country and education is expensive and something that a widow would not be able to afford her children when food and shelter would be the priority. If he is a Sunni Muslim he would not have been afforded the luxury of a college education purely because he is Sunni.

Your continued intent for a relationship with this man is puzzling because all the indicators are that he IS a scammer. You really need to get a grip of this whole concept of scamming. You are being groomed at the moment so that he can gain your trust before he puts the big squeeze on you for a visa and money. If you have doubts that you need to ask so many questions and keep defending the relationship then something inside you is telling you that all is not right.
