Have you asked why he is Sunni and the rest of his family are Shiite? This will not be correct as families follow the one type of Islam. They pray together, go to the mosque together, celebrate religious holidays together, discuss religion together. Sunni muslims are more tolerant and this is why he has told you that he is Sunni. The Sunni muslims in Iraq were persecuted as the Shiites held power before the war and under control of Saddam Hussein. It would be unthinkable for him to be Sunni and the rest of his family Shiite.

He said his mom is shite and he is sunni but he does not discuss it with her. He does not practice his religion. He does comment that his mom goes to pray, but he does not. They do celebrate holidays together, Ide (sp?) and the fasting but he thinks it is stupid and he does not fast...he eats...he even cracks jokes that the little ones are allowed to eat so he eats with them since the family doesn't prepare anything big until they are allowed to eat. I do not pledge to know enough about Islam religion or for that matter, the difference between Shites and Sunni's. Why would he tell me he was a Sunni when he knows I don't really understand what the difference is? I really don't know what the big deal is between shite and sunni....and he makes very light of it because he thinks many laws in Islam are not worth talking about and says that noone in his family practices them (i.e. poligamy, wife beating, etc.)

Also he would not have had all the girlfriends etc that you have described - they would have been internet relationships only. As for being very sexual - he is using you! Sex before marriage is not permitted nor is any fooling around or internet sex.

Why would he not have girlfriends in Iraq an only on the internet? I don't understand this comment? he has dated, and I even asked him why he doens't find nice woman in Iraq, someone that is in his own country. He response is he cannot help who his heart wants or who he falls in love with. he said that not many people know what the true love is...I wish I could explain how deep he talks and seems to feel, it is unlike anything I've seen. We have wonderful conversations, very intellectual. He is a college graduate in computer science. He is very educated. He also mentioned that he would never have believed that he would meet a woman on the internet because he said many are very dirty and he knows what they are all after. He questioned me for a long time of why I was on chat site which I will go into another time...basically I had a highschool friend on facebook that told me about the chat site and that is where I met Hussein. It was very innocent as I am not one to sit in chat rooms looking for love. I would like for you to elaborate on your comment of why he would not have girlfirends...only on the internet???

You are being taken for a big fat ride and I wish that you would listen to the other comments on here. I am not going to be so nice as some of the others wishing you well - you will lose out big time if you let this continue. It would be a good idea to research Islam as well and the role that women play in a Muslim marriage.

Can you suggest any good sites to read about Islam and the role that women play in a Muslim marriage? I would like to read more about it. Also, he has no problem getting married by a priest or at a government office, which I don't think they allow like they do here....but he said it was my choice, it made no difference to him. I am not Catholic, but if we were to marry in Lebonon, I think that is the only choice or the muslim way...but he is perfectly fine being married by a priest. so you tell me what he is about????
