If you believe that you are describing the perfect love and union, fettered only by small details like finances and visas, then why are you on this site asking if this is real?

Hi Sara, thank you for your comments, I am on this site because I do want to make the right decision and I thought that a site like this might give me some insight. Isn't that what all of us are doing here?

I don't know if you are old enough to know that what seems too good to be real usually is. You have no opportunity to vet this guy. every thing that you know of him is his version of the truth. it is a theoretical relationship, and if you keep it in that realm, you will probably be happy for a long time.

Right now I plan on doing just that, keeping it a long distance relationship to see what happens. So far I have not caught him in any lies...its been 2 years and 3 months.

Once it emerges into reality and you start to deal with what he really wants and needs, I suspect things will deteriorate fast and will cause you grief and disappointment. So my advice to you is to keep it long distance and status quo. Do NOT go over there. do NOT send him any money, gifts, help his friends, his family, his store, help his visa application, anything at all. He gets insecure because he has invested a lot in you and doesn't want you meeting another on a webcam... really, a webcam. if that doesn't raise your suspicions.. The first test will be when he asks you for something and you decline in order to prove that this is not a long scam.

I have visited him on 3 occasions in Lebanon. He has never asked me for anything...never asked anything about my personal finances and never asked for any help with a visa. He has mentioned that if we married that the process for applying for a visa would be easier, however not guaranteed. I have asked him countless times why he has never met anyone in Iraq...his answer was he has met many, but none with the "true love". He said he cannot help who his heart has fell for and believes God put me in his life.

Are you prepared to face the consequences?

I am prepared for anything at this point. I keep waiting for the other shoe to fall but so far it has not. He is so kind and patient...does worry on occasson that I will not "keep" him or will get bored with the situation. He has told me if I ever do not want him any more just to say the word, that he would leave me alone. He does not want to pursue someone that doesn't have the same feelings as he does for me.
